The purpose of this research guide is to provide access to Indigenous resources to members of the GBC community. We hope that our guide will help students learn about Indigenous topics and help faculty incorporate Indigenous resources and topics into their courses and assignments.
Our collections of Indigenous resources include; books, eBooks, news and academic articles, visual media and more!

Note on Problematic Language: During your research you may come across problematic terminology or language. This is primarily for two reasons; 1) Older resources may contain problematic and outdated terms. 2) Libraries often use international standards to catalogue our resources. Unfortunately, these standards take a long time to change. Both Library and Archives Canada and the Library of Congress are in the process of making changes to the Subject Headings used to classify our resources.
Due to changes in terminology over time, it may be necessary to search a variety of terms in the catalogue using the advanced search tools AND and OR.
Example:
Indigenous OR First Nations OR Aboriginal OR Native
AND
Government OR Governance
