Adding a Textbook from an OER Repository to your Reading List
The best way to add an OER textbook to your course is to begin by adding the Cite it! Button.
Once you have added the Cite it! Button, follow the steps in this video to add an OER textbook.
Adding an OER or Open-Access Textbook from the Library Collection to your Reading List
The library’s collection includes open-access textbooks from well-known publishers such as Taylor and Francis, Routledge and Emerald and OER works from the Open Textbook Library. The Open Textbook Library provides a detailed profile of authors and generally provides reviews of the textbook. For the criteria for a book’s inclusion in the Open Textbook library, please follow the link provided.
To add OER or open-access resources from the library collection follow the instructions below.
Click the +ADD button, then click Search the Library.
Click Advanced Search.
Type your keywords, title, author or other search words into the Search box, enter a date range and click Search.
A list of results will appear. Scroll Down to see results OR choose the Filter option on the right-hand side to limit results to specific Resource Types or Availability.
Click Show More to see all available Resource Types.
For OER textbooks, choose Books from Type and Open Access from Availability.
When you see an item you want to add to your list:
1. Roll your cursor over the item.
2. Click the blue circle with the white plus icon which will read ADD ITEM TO LIST.
3. Choose the LIST radio button and choose the Section you want the item to appear in (see dropdown menu)
4. Click ADD & EDIT or ADD.
That's it! The item is in your list.
Once your list is complete, see Step 4: Make Visible to make the list available to students.
