1. On WestLaw homepage, click Cases
2. type in your topic (e.g., hotel injury, etc.). You can also filter to a specific jurisdiction.
3. narrow results list by filtering by jurisdiction, court level, subject area
4. to read case, click hyperlinked case name
⇒ Use quotation marks if you want your search words to stay together (e.g. "duty of care").
⇒ In your results list, avoid cases that show a red flag. A red flag means that the case may not be good law.
1. highlight text from case that you wish to quote in your paper
2. choose the Copy with Reference option that appears automatically
3. paste text into your document
4. WestLaw generates the citation and adds it below the pasted text
