Page 1+ Library Search Tips

Updating Permalinks for Articles, Books, Videos and More

 

As we transition to the new Page1+ library search system, some permalinks to articles, books, videos and other resources may no longer work.

Example:

Morton, J. (2022). A look at mass timber. Buildings, 116(2), 27–29.​

If your permalink contains eds, it will no longer work as of January 1, 2023.

It is easy to update your permalinks to work with our new search system.  The steps are outlined below.

*Please note:  Separate instructions are provided for updating Canadian newspaper articles containing eds in the permalink.

Step 1:  Go to the Page1+ website​

Please Note: This is a temporary link to give you the opportunity to get an early start on updating your articles.  As of December 19th you will be able to search for your articles directly from the library's main website.

Step 2: Type the title into the search bar​

Article:  Morton, J. (2022). A look at mass timberBuildings116(2), 27-29.

If the title is very general, you may want to add the author’s last name :

A look at mass timber AND Morton

If no author is listed, combine the title with the journal title:

A look at mass timber AND buildings

*Note: capitalize the AND in your search

Step 3: Click and copy the permalink from the record in Page1+

Updating Permalinks for Canadian Newspaper Articles

 

Although many links to Canadian newspaper articles will continue to work with our new Page1+ system, any links with eds in them will need to be updated.

Example:

Whitzman, C. (2022, November 11). We need a common definition of affordable housing; An understanding of 80 per cent of market value doesn’t necessarily make affordable units. Globe & Mail (Toronto, Canada), A6.

Step 1: Go to Page1+ and click the Canadian Sources+ link

Step 2:  Search for the article in Proquest

Try searching by title. 

If the title is very general, you can AND in the newspaper or the author

Step 3:  Click the cite button for the article

Step 4:  Copy citation in preferred format including permalink
