APA: Additional Resources

The following resources provide additional information and examples that will help you to cite your sources and format your papers using APA.

APA: What is it?

American Psychological Association (APA) is most commonly used to write papers and cite sources within the sciences and social sciences. The purpose of documentation is to:

  • Identify (cite) other people’s ideas and information used within your essay, assignment or paper.
  • Indicate the authors or sources of these in a References list at the end of your paper.

The APA information and examples within this guide are based on the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.) published in 2020.

If you are not sure which citation style to use, please ask your instructor.
