Professional HR associations can often be good sources for information about current HR trends and statistics. This page lists some of the HR professional associations that may be useful to you - both Canadian and International. Many of these sites include Resource sections or online magazines and newspapers that provide useful information about this profession.

However, please keep in mind that some of these resources may be locked behind paywalls and only available to members.

Canadian Associations

The Institute for Performance and Learning
This is a not-for-profit organization for workplace learning and performance professionals. The association provides a lot of excellent resources and professional development opportunities.
Chartered Professionals in Human Resources Canada (CPHR)
CPHR Canada is the national voice on the enhancement and promotion of the profession across Canada, through established and credible designations, collaborating on national issues related to the profession
Human Resources Professional Association
The HRPA is the professional regulatory body and the professional association for Human Resources professionals in Ontario. It oversees more than 20,000 members in 28 chapters across the province.
The Society of Human Resources Management
The SHRM is the world’s largest HR professional society, representing 285,000 members in more than 165 countries. Has quite a bit of excellent information on Canadian issues - to find Canadian information, do a search for Canada through the search bar.
The Canadian Payroll Association
The CPA is "the authoritative source of Canadian payroll compliance knowledge" and is a major source of payroll education and advocacy in Canada.
Human Resources Management Systems Professionals Association (HRMSPA)
This association helps professionals stay knowledgeable about new HR management systems and provides HR professionals with a network to discuss these systems.
The International Personnel Management Association (IPMA) – Canada
The IPMA Canada offers a comprehensive international human resource certification program. Canada has eight IPMA chapters in total.

International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) - American site
By clicking on the United States icon, you will be taken to the U.S. version of the website. This nonprofit association provides education and networking opporunities.
International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA)
This U.S.-based organization provides members with training and educational resources. In their HR Resources section of their website, they provide some free resources.
The International Association for Human Resource Information Management (IHRIM)
This association provides education and certification opportunities and is focused on HR information management professionals.
