Introduction

Welcome to the research guide for HOST 1204: Global Hospitality!

This course considers challenges around defining and assessing a firm's external environment, by asking a series of philosophical and practical questions: What is the 'external environment' of a firm (or industry)? Are all firms (industries) equally vulnerable their external environment? To what extent can we objectively know external environments? We will use the PESTEL framework to assess and analyze the external environments, as a foundation for firm- and industry-level decision making.
