Citing Sources: APA Citation Style - 7th ed.

APA recently published a new edition of their Publication Manual.

Some of the changes include:

No longer include places of publication when citing books

No longer include database names or URLs when citing resources retrieved from library databases

Expanded coverage of online resources, including social media

American Psychological Association (APA) is most commonly used to write papers and cite sources within the sciences and social sciences.

**If you are not sure which citation style to use, please ask your instructor.

 The purpose of documentation is to:

• Identify (cite) other people’s ideas and information used within your essay, assignment or paper.
• Indicate the authors or sources of these in a References list at the end of your paper.

This guide is based on the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.) published in 2020.
